Raoult's Law Calculator

Raoult's Law Mole Fraction Calculator

Created by: Álvarez Contreras

Creation date: September 4, 2026

Description

This application calculates the liquid mole fractions \(x_1\) and \(x_2\), and the vapor mole fractions \(y_1\) and \(y_2\), for an ideal binary mixture.

Instructions

  1. Enter the names of the two species.
  2. Select the pressure unit.
  3. Enter the total system pressure.
  4. Enter the vapor pressure of each species.
  5. Use the same unit for all pressure values.
  6. Press the Calculate button.

Equations

\[P=x_1P_1^{sat}+x_2P_2^{sat}\] \[x_1=\frac{P-P_2^{sat}}{P_1^{sat}-P_2^{sat}}\] \[x_2=1-x_1\] \[y_1=\frac{x_1P_1^{sat}}{P}\] \[y_2=\frac{x_2P_2^{sat}}{P}\]

Input Data

Species 1 Species 2 Pressure Unit
Total Pressure \(P\) Vapor Pressure \(P_1^{sat}\) Vapor Pressure \(P_2^{sat}\)

Results

Phase Species 1 Species 2 Sum
Liquid mole fraction \(x\) - - -
Vapor mole fraction \(y\) - - -

Important: This calculator assumes an ideal binary liquid mixture and an ideal vapor phase.
