Raoult's Law Mole Fraction Calculator
Description
This application calculates the liquid mole fractions \(x_1\) and \(x_2\), and the vapor mole fractions \(y_1\) and \(y_2\), for an ideal binary mixture.
Instructions
- Enter the names of the two species.
- Select the pressure unit.
- Enter the total system pressure.
- Enter the vapor pressure of each species.
- Use the same unit for all pressure values.
- Press the Calculate button.
Equations
\[P=x_1P_1^{sat}+x_2P_2^{sat}\]
\[x_1=\frac{P-P_2^{sat}}{P_1^{sat}-P_2^{sat}}\]
\[x_2=1-x_1\]
\[y_1=\frac{x_1P_1^{sat}}{P}\]
\[y_2=\frac{x_2P_2^{sat}}{P}\]
Input Data
| Species 1 | Species 2 | Pressure Unit |
|---|---|---|
| Total Pressure \(P\) | Vapor Pressure \(P_1^{sat}\) | Vapor Pressure \(P_2^{sat}\) |
|---|---|---|
Results
| Phase | Species 1 | Species 2 | Sum |
|---|---|---|---|
| Liquid mole fraction \(x\) | - | - | - |
| Vapor mole fraction \(y\) | - | - | - |
Important: This calculator assumes an ideal binary liquid mixture and an ideal vapor phase.
